Tribute to Jean-François Bauret
The 2014 edition pays homage to Jean-François Bauret, who recently passed away. His luminous black and white works will be showcased in two exhibitions in Les Baux-de-Provence: "Nudes" and "Artist Portraits."
With Jean-François Bauret, a master of photography departs. Renowned for his luminous and expressive nudes, as well as portraits of Serge Gainsbourg and Klaus Kinsky, he was among the first to reveal the body of pregnant women, transforming the timid approach to portraiture while always respecting the dignity of his subjects.

The Body Illuminated in Arles
Marked by the participation of Gérard Uféras, the 11th edition of this festival dedicated to nude photography expands its landscape to include Turkish, Russian, and Ukrainian productions. Accessorized, staged, enhanced, or simply approached naturally, the body reveals itself through the vision of thirty artists.
The genre dates back to the black figures of Greek pottery, has dominated since the Renaissance, and photography appropriated it from the earliest days of the daguerreotype. Yet it took more than three and a half centuries for a festival to devote itself to nude photography. The event, mounted through the efforts of Bruno Rédarès and Bernard Minier, found its home in the beautiful town of Arles in spring 2001.

Ukrainian Artists Presence
The presence of Ukrainian artists is a highlight of the 2011 edition. This openness and the quality of the selection owe much to the long-term work with Ukrainian photographers, coordinated by Elena Cahn, Director of AS EditProd. She successfully proposed to the Festival an eclectic yet complementary program, featuring internationally renowned artists, ultimately offering a very contemporary vision of Ukrainian photography.

Festival Expansion
The Nude Photo Festival has taken over Les Baux. Jacques Renoir, photographer and filmmaker, was a guest of the town of Les Baux de Provence as part of the European Nude Photo Festival organized in Arles and Les Baux. The great-grandson of Auguste Renoir presented his images of feminine beauty and a series of photographs taken among century-old olive trees. "It's a developing event," notes Michel Fenard, the mayor who chose to engage "a cultural life in the village."

The Frank Vision of Edouard de Pazzi
For photographers attempting the difficult genre of nude photography, art offers several paths to success: timeless academicism, variations of blur or softness, the alibi of very contemporary fiction—all recipes equally valid for nudes of both genders, masculine and feminine. The women photographed by Edouard de Pazzi are certainly unveiled, which does not position him as a nude photographer concerned with pleasing his audience, patrons, and clients.

Growing Festival
The 9th European Festival currently taking place in Arles extends to the walls of the emblematic Baussian commune. The European Nude Photo Festival is unfolding in Arles and, for its 9th edition, titled "Views of the Body," also extends to one of the region's most emblematic towns: Les Baux-de-Provence. Thus this year the Festival adorns the walls and various cultural spaces of the Baussian commune, as well as the walls of the Val d'Enfer quarries.

Taking on New Dimensions
For its 8th edition, the festival initiated by Bruno Rédarès and Bernard Minier changes face and expands. Twenty-five artists are presented until May 17 in Arles but also in Les Baux-de-Provence. Partners are more numerous and renowned. "This year, Ilford is investing for the first time with a concrete desire to be involved for the long term; they are co-producing a good portion of the exhibitions presented this year," explains president Bruno Rédarès.

Festival Recognition
The festival has evolved from modest beginnings to become a recognized international event, attracting 15,000 visitors in recent editions. Started with limited resources, the European Nude Photo Festival has established itself as a credible cultural institution, drawing photographers from Germany, Switzerland, and Italy to participate in this celebration of artistic photography.
